AFH MSP July Meeting

1. Justin and Jordan presented research on Somaliland and precedent studies for vernacular construction. A variety of building materials were studied. One resource: www.librariesforafrica.com. Need to clarify expectations for project with Client. Verify city, program, budget. Will post document to OAN.

2. Justin presented the Handbook House - a holder to distribute the Handbook to the Streets. Justin is producing for about $6 each. Will be located around the Twin Cities (guerilla style or approved?) Distributed by Alliance of the Streets, a program of St. Stephen's Human Services. Jeffrey will contact the Handbook people.

3. Sishir presented his work on the new deck for the Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara in north Minneapolis. Sishir is providing the design, the temple is providing materials, labor help is needed. Timeline is for construction in August. Jeffrey suggests phasing construction.

4. New location was discussed but not yet determined. No meeting in August. Email ideas to Maureen before September 20 meeting. May change to Tuesday in order to take advantage of library meeting space.

5. Tim checked with his contacts about potential projects in Haiti. No good projects yet.
